SUMMARY

Frankie and Johnny were lovers,

oh lordy, how they could love.

Swore to be true to each other,

just as true as the stars above.

Following previous relationship-pieces such as Private Lives, Sexual Perversity in Chicago & Closer, Vivid Theatre Company present Terrence McNally's warm and tender bitter-sweet romantic comedy in the run-up to Christmas. Previously an off-Broadway hit, and a film starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Al Pacino, Frankie and Johnny is a play for anyone searching for, hoping for, or lost in the middle of love.

Hard-boiled waitress Frankie and cock-sure chef Johnny find themselves in bed together after a first date. Johnny is certain he has found his soul mate, but Frankie is far more cautious and less inclined to jump to conclusions. As the night unfolds, they slowly begin to reveal themselves to each other as they take tentative steps towards the start of a possible relationship.
