SUMMARY

Marking the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War, DUCT stages R.C. Sherriff's masterpiece in Grey's Fountains Hall.

‘Journey's End’ by R.C. Sherriff is a deeply emotive and brilliant play about a group of soldiers in the trenches at Saint-Quentin, France in 1918 towards the end of World War One. It examines how such different characters cope under extraordinary circumstances, giving a glimpse into the experiences of the officers of a British Army infantry company. The entire story plays out in the officers' dugout over four days from 18 March 1918 to 21 March 1918.
