“A story about how we try to understand the unthinkable.”

Theatre Paradok

SUMMARY

Edinburgh University’s Theatre Paradok present the first amateur revival of the award-winning play, Lippy by Bush Moukarzel, with cameo playwright Mark O'Halloran.

Lippy is a story about how we try to understand the unthinkable. Telling the true story of four women who starved themselves to death in Ireland at the turn of the millennium, Lippy simultaneously attempts to uncover the motives that drove them to ending their lives. The first amateur production of the award-winning Dead Centre production, Lippy is haunting, powerful, unforgettable and at points darkly comic. The show effortlessly plays with the narrative of conventional theatre while exploring the characters of the four women at the show’s heart.

Bringing a new voice to this contemporary classic, Theatre Paradok present a stripped-back version of Dead Centre’s original production, focusing on powerful performances and brutal realism.
