The Fourth Wall

SUMMARY

“Set amongst the penal colonies of Georgian Australia ‘Our Country’s Good’ is at once a comic and brutal play exploring love, punishment and the redemptive power of theatre.”

'Our Country’s Good' follows a band of thieves, prostitutes and murderers who make up a penal colony in Georgian Australia. The play opens with the offstage flogging of a prisoner on a ship bound for what will become New South Wales and follows both the convicts and officers as they attempt to stage a version of George Farquhar’s Restoration comedy 'The Recruiting Officer'.

Admission: £6(£5) – £6.50
